Scar Subcision

A minimally invasive procedure for correcting atrophic scars (most often post-acne), based on releasing fibrous adhesions that pull the skin inward, in order to smooth the skin surface and stimulate collagen production.

Scar subcision is a minimally invasive procedure aimed at correcting atrophic (depressed) scars, most commonly post-acne scars or scars after trauma.

The method is based on mechanical release of fibrous scar bands pulling the skin inward. The procedure is performed using a needle or atraumatic cannula - the choice depends on the depth and location of the scar. During the procedure, the physician carefully releases connective tissue adhesions, stimulating collagen production and improving skin texture.

Subcision can be combined with other methods such as laser resurfacing, filler injections, or collagen-stimulating agents. It is suitable for both isolated and multiple scars. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and requires minimal recovery time. The result is noticeable smoothing of the skin surface and improved firmness. Patients often notice improvement after the first procedure. The final effect develops over 1–3 months.

Subcision is a minimally invasive procedure in which a physician uses a special needle or cannula to release fibrous bands pulling the scar inward. It is mainly used for atrophic scars (post-acne, post-traumatic, or post-surgical), especially when scars are tethered or attached to underlying tissues.

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, so the patient experiences minimal discomfort during the intervention. After the procedure, mild soreness or tightness, swelling, and bruising may occur, which usually resolve within a few days.

The number of procedures depends on the depth and number of scars. Noticeable improvement is often seen after the first procedure, but in complex cases, 2–3 sessions with 4–6 week intervals may be required. Sometimes subcision is combined with other methods (such as laser treatment or fillers) to achieve a better result.
