Scars are the result of healing damaged skin and replacement of the defect with connective tissue. Causes include injuries (scars after cuts, burns, surgery) and consequences of skin diseases (acne, boils, chickenpox).

When the integrity of the skin is disrupted, the body activates a “closing the gap” mechanism, and the wound begins to heal.

A scar is a cosmetic defect that, with modern treatment methods, can and should be eliminated or at least reduced.

Scar Correction Methods

  • Using special injectable medications that help resorb scar tissue, we skillfully correct raised (hypertrophic) scars, making them flatter. Such scars smooth down to skin level and become less noticeable. The effect is visible 2 weeks after injections. The procedure is performed once a month in a course of 1 to 5 procedures depending on scar severity;

  • fractional laser destroys the coarse structure of the scar, resulting in the formation of new tissue that lies evenly. The skin becomes smoother and irregularities are reduced. The procedure is performed once a month in a course of 3–5 procedures;

  • a hyaluronic acid–based gel allows filling scars that lie below skin level (atrophic scars), making it possible to raise depressed areas to the required level. This procedure can achieve significant skin leveling.

  • scar subcision is a minimally invasive procedure aimed at eliminating atrophic (depressed) scars, most often post-acne or post-traumatic scars. The method is based on mechanically releasing fibrous scar bands pulling the skin inward. The procedure is performed using a needle or atraumatic cannula - the choice depends on scar depth and location.
