Every woman dreams of an ideal lip shape, but with age the skin becomes less firm, facial muscles lose tone. As a result, the corners of the mouth droop, and the face takes on a dissatisfied or sad expression.

Depressor muscles are directly involved in facial expressions and are therefore highly mobile. During negative emotions, the corners of the mouth turn downward, giving a sad appearance. Later, traces of emotion disappear, and the mouth returns to its natural contours. This is typical at a young age.
However, over time muscle elasticity decreases, and a sorrowful expression becomes a constant companion. This is also promoted by gravity, under the influence of which all facial tissues seem to “slide” downward.
How the Procedure Is Performed
Hyaluronic acid fills the space beneath the folds in the perioral area and pushes them outward. The areas beneath the corners of the mouth are lifted, so the facial expression no longer appears sad.
The procedure is performed with a needle or cannula, but no additional anesthesia is required, as the product contains an anesthetic, making the procedure comfortable and painless.
After the procedure, slight redness may remain, which resolves within 1 hour. Bruising is possible.
