Open Eyes and Smile

A combination of contouring procedures using MD Code technique and Dysport to lift the outer corners of the eyes. Creates a more open gaze and smile.

Procedure Duration

1 hour

Recovery Time

Redness after injection resolves within 10–15 minutes. Bruising may occur and usually resolves within a week.

Duration of Effect

1.5–2 years

This is a combination of procedures that make the eyes and smile appear more open and happier. The outer corner of the eye is lifted, improving both the gaze and smile. The number of expression lines around the eyes is reduced.

This effect is achieved through the use of Dysport in the “open eyes” technique and contouring using MD Code technique.

The reason is that with age, the gaze and smile become narrower and more constrained, the outer corners of the eyes turn downward, and the eyes take on a comma-like downward shape.

Indications

  • drooping of the outer corners of the eyes at rest and when smiling;

  • age-related narrowing of the eyes at rest and when smiling;

  • drooping of the upper eyelid when smiling.

Contraindications

  • pregnancy and breastfeeding;

  • blood clotting disorders;

  • congenital muscle weakness;

  • local or systemic infection during the procedure;

  • oncological diseases.

Surrounding the eye is the orbicularis oculi muscle. It is located on the bony part of the orbit, which serves as its support. With age, the bony part of the orbit diminishes, and the orbicularis muscle, losing its support, goes into hypertonicity (tightness), lowering the outer corner of the eye and narrowing the palpebral fissure.

To relieve this muscle hypertonicity, Dysport in the “open eyes” technique is highly effective. The hypertonicity is reduced, and the gaze becomes more open. However, when the effect of Dysport wears off (after 4–6 months), the muscle begins to contract again, pulling the eye corners downward. For a more pronounced and lasting effect, contouring with hyaluronic acid gel is required, injected deeply to restore areas of lost bony support. As a result, sagging tissues regain support, the eyes appear more open, and the smile becomes happier and more lifted.

    The injections cause slight discomfort, but anesthesia in the form of a cream and/or included in the product significantly eases the procedure. Therefore, the procedure is mildly uncomfortable but quite tolerable.

    After contouring (gel injection), the effect is visible immediately after the procedure-the outer corner of the eye is lifted, and the gaze appears more open. After Dysport, the effect develops gradually over 1–2 weeks.

    The full effect comes from combining these two procedures.
