Laser Acne Treatment

It is a chronic inflammation of the sebaceous glands that occurs as a result of excessive sebum production and blockage of the glands. Sebaceous glands are located in the skin and produce sebum, which prevents the skin from drying out and keeps it elastic.

Sebum production may increase when levels of male sex hormones (androgens) rise. As a rule, acne appears as inflamed red nodules (pimples), often painful, as well as non-inflammatory comedones, which appear as painless blackheads.

Acne most commonly appears on the skin of the face, neck, chest, and back.

When excess sebum is produced and becomes dense, a plug forms - a comedone. This plug blocks the sebaceous follicle. As a result, sebum accumulates in the sebaceous gland. Under these conditions, bacteria that normally live in the sebaceous glands begin to multiply rapidly. This leads to inflammation of comedones and the appearance of acne lesions and pustules.
