Temple area contour correction involves filling the temporal hollow with hyaluronic acid-based fillers to restore volume in this area.
With age or after sudden weight loss, there is a loss of density and volume in the soft tissues, muscle atrophy, and thinning of the skin in this area, which causes bony structures to become more visible and vascular patterns to become more pronounced.
Hyaluronic acid is an ideal material for correcting temporal hollows, as it acts as a structural support for soft tissues, lifts the skin, smooths fine wrinkles, and makes protruding bony edges of the zygomatic arch and orbital rim less noticeable, while vessels become less visible.
Indications
age-related changes (ptosis);
insufficient volume of subcutaneous fat in the temple area;
drooping of the lateral part of the eyebrow, upper eyelid, and corners of the eyes;
wrinkles.
Contraindications
pregnancy and breastfeeding;
blood clotting disorders;
oncological diseases;
local or systemic infection at the time of the procedure.
How the Procedure Is Performed
The procedure is performed using a cannula (a long blunt-tipped needle), which makes it safe because it does not damage nerves or blood vessels.
The product contains an anesthetic, making the procedure comfortable and painless.
After the procedure, slight redness may remain, which resolves within 30–60 minutes. Bruising is possible.
A repeat procedure may be necessary.
